Hebrews 10:10-12 says: "For God’s will was for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ, once for all time. Under the old covenant, the priest stands and ministers before the altar day after day, offering the same sacrifices again and again, which can never take away sins. But our High Priest offered Himself to God as a single sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then He sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand." (NLT) Like floodlights shining down on a field of play, all 66 books of the Bible, OT & NT, are shining upon Christ. Hebrews 10 illuminates how the old covenant gives way to the new and better covenant. A covenant is a sacred agreement between those who love one another. In Galatians 3:19 the Apostle Paul asks and then answers a great question: "Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the Child who was promised. God gave His law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people." (NLT) Romans 8:3 is our exclamation mark: "The law of Moses was unable to save us because of the weakness of our sinful nature. So God did what the law could not do. He sent His own Son in a body like the bodies we sinners have. And in that body God declared an end to sin’s control over us by giving His Son as a sacrifice for our sins." (NLT) And praise God, Christ's sacrifice, is most certainly and unequivocally, good for all time!
