Trusting Means Leaning

Proverbs 3:5-8 was written by Solomon who the Scriptures say was as wise as they come. He wrote the following words almost 3,000 years ago: "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones." (ESV) Trust is directing our souls to lean confidently and exclusively upon the LORD, Yahweh, I AM. It doesn't mean we abdicate or shirk our responsibilities with respect to this life, but it does require a deep level of reverent humility as to Who God is, what He's about, and what He plans to do. Trusting means leaning. But it matters where we lean and just Who represents the object of our trust. Even with respect to our salvation and eternal destinies, it matters where we've placed our trust, whether that be ourselves, others, things and stuff, or the Lord our God. Therefore, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding or upon anything else for that matter. Lean upon the only One Who is trust-worthy...
