“Seeing The Elephant”

“Seeing The Elephant”

During the Civil War, a phrase was coined to describe the reaction of new recruits seeing battle for the first time; it was called, “seeing the elephant.”  The Scriptures have much to say about suffering--about trials, afflictions, and tribulations--and how such difficulties are used by God to bring about perseverance, character, hope, and maturity.  Many in our church family have definitely “seen the elephant” and hopefully this message will prove encouraging to anyone who has and is.  James 1:12 serves as our exclamation mark: “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.”
