What to Bind Around Your Neck
Proverbs 3:3-6 says: "Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths." (ESV) Bind what around our necks? Steadfast love and faithfulness! Why might this be? Because these are the key attributes of God! When you read through the 66 Books, you see the steadfast love of the Lord and His faithfulness in living color. You see them on display in the Garden and onward. You see them in the lives of the Patriarchs. You see them in the deliverance of God's people from Egyptian slavery. You see them in the wilderness and in the giving of the law. You see them throughout the days of the Judges, Kings, and Prophets. But where do we see them culminate most vividly? Where is their mighty confluence demonstrated most grandly? Where do they reach their zenith? At the Cross! "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son..." Yes, bind this around your neck! Tattoo this on your heart! Carve this in your trees! And shout this from every mountaintop!
