Truth Matters! What We Believe Matters!

Truth Matters! What We Believe Matters!

In 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Paul affirms: "Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures..." (NIV) It's one thing to give mental ascent to the notion that there was a good man named Jesus, that He was crucified to death, buried, and alleged by some to have risen from the dead. (An atheist could affirm that.) It's quite another thing to believe from your heart of hearts that Jesus was the one and only Son of God, Who was crucified to death on a cross, Who bore the punishment of we sinners, extinguishing God's wrath against our sin; Who was buried in a grave that could not hold Him; and, Who rose up from that grave victoriously demonstrating that our sins had indeed been atoned for, totally forgiven, with eternal life bestowed upon those for whom He died. Truth matters! And what we believe matters! So where do you stand on what truly matters?
