God Knows

God Knows

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 says: "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (NIV) With regards to our earthly trials and afflictions, they often seem heavy and unending rather than light and momentary. But juxtaposed with eternity, where there'll be no more pain and suffering, our troubles seem to lose their immense weight and longevity. What will a new year bring? Or even a new day for that matter? While we don't know, surely God knows! Past, present, and future, we take heart in Romans 8:28-30: "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them. For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And having chosen them, He called them to come to Him. And having called them, He gave them right standing with Himself. And having given them right standing, He gave them His glory." (NLT) And with this assurance we can truly take heart, even in the midst of our troubles, come what may or might...
