The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing But the Truth

The Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing But the Truth

In John 14:6, at the Last Supper, Jesus said this to Thomas, His disciples, and all His followers down through time: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." (ESV) In David's prayer of repentance, Psalm 51:6 specifically, we hear this: "Behold, You delight in truth in the inward being, and You teach me wisdom in the secret heart." (ESV) And the late Billy Graham once said: "You can accept the truth, you can reject the truth, but you can't change the truth." Aesop's fable, The Tortoise and the Hare, is a good comparison to truth vs lies and falsehoods. Lies and falsehoods are spread, sprint forth and run rampant, brandished with pride, swagger and arrogance. But eventually the tortoise of truth comes along, overtakes the lies and falsehoods, and crosses the finish line victoriously. Truth may come from way behind but in the end it will always win. How much do you love the truth? How much do you love the truth of God's Word? How much do you love the truth of God's Word made flesh--Jesus? Our Lord said this in John 8:31-32: "If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (ESV) Yay and Amen!
