God Knows

God Knows

Sound theology begins with the sovereignty of God, that He is all knowing, all powerful, and all present.  The theological term for God being all knowing is, omniscient.  And just how well does He know us?  Jesus said in Matthew 10:29-31: "Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows." (NASB)  Psalm 147:4-5 declares that God not only keeps track of hairs and sparrows but also of the very stars that have spun off His fingertips: "He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. Great is our Lord, and mighty in power; His understanding is infinite." (NKJV)  If these two verses leave any doubt that there may remain a few mysteries unbeknownst to God, Hebrews 4:13 slams that door shut when it says: "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of Him to Whom we must give account." (NIV)  The Scriptures are clear, God knows everything about everything and that includes everything about us.  But what is most incredible, totally astounding and marvelous--God gives us the privilege of knowing Him!  Jesus made this possible by His sacrifice on the cross.  Besides granting us the honor of knowing Him, He grants us yet another privilege; making Him known to others.
