CloseChristians in all traditions teach a core belief that Jesus Christ, in fulfilling His mission, executed, as one God-man, the three offices of prophet, priest, and king. When Jesus Christ victoriously completed His earthly mission, after commissioning His followers to disciple the nations (Matthew 28:18–20), He ascended to heaven where He was glorified and coronated as King over “all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come.” (Ephesians 1:21, ESV) He is currently seated at the right hand of the Father. But just because Jesus is seated, He is by no means a passive observer to what is happening on the earth. As the victorious Son of God, He is still executing the roles of prophet, priest, and king.
