Treasure The Treasure

In Matthew 13:44-46 Jesus said: "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and covered up. Then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who, on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that he had and bought it." (ESV) When Jesus taught in parables it had a twofold purpose--they brought both clarity and confounding. True seekers gained better understanding while religious leaders left scratching their heads. Volumes of books have been written about the Kingdom of God but here's a simple definition: The place where the Fatherly rule of God, the rulership realm of the King of kings, inhabited by the Spirit-born children of God, will live forevermore in the holy, blissful presence of our Almighty Triune God. With a taste of it now, in that ultimate place of splendor we will worship the One who made the way for us to live with Him forever via the sacrifice of Himself on the cross, achieving a crushing victory over sin and death, demonstratively displayed by His resurrection from the dead. This King and His Kingdom are liken to Treasure, now unearthed, and far far more precious than silver, gold, or diamonds. Indeed, all other treasures are pittance in comparison...
