The Wait is Over

David and his fellow psalmists pour their hearts out in the Psalms, crying out to God for help and mercy, forgiveness and pardon, protection, and deliverance. Their tear-drenched prayers of poetry are lifted high with robust songs of praise and worship. Under the old covenant they cry and wait, plead and wait, raise their voices and wait. Then comes Jesus Christ and the wait is over. Our deepest cries have been heard. In Christ our Lord, every sin is wiped away as the new covenant is established with His blood. And one day every tear will also be wiped away. Hebrews 9:15 leaves no doubt: "Therefore He is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant."
