The First Christmas Tree

The First Christmas Tree

The origins of the Christmas tree have long been debated. Most affirm they came from Germany or somewhere in northern Europe but many unsubstantiated legends and myths, both pagan and Christian, cloud the historical truth. Christmas trees, however, have become a fixed part of the Christmas culture and their variations are legion. But once upon a time there had to have been a first Christmas tree and this message will say that it was the cross upon which Jesus Christ suffered and died. Ornamented with God the Son, this tree was stained red with His atoning blood that eternal life, often symbolized by the evergreen, might be granted to those who have placed their trust in Him. Let us therefore gather, even amass, around Christ and the tree which truly gives life and that forevermore.
