Prayer, Expectancy, Thanksgiving, & Witness

Prayer, Expectancy, Thanksgiving, & Witness

Colossians 4:2-6 says: "Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ, on account of which I am in prison--that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak. Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person." (ESV) When it comes to being witnesses for Christ, prayer is essential. Outreach begins with up-reach. Praying watchfully means praying expectantly, confident that God will open hearts to respond to the Good News. Add to that thanksgiving. Praying with an attitude of thankfulness means you know WHO is ultimately in control, at work, and drawing people to Himself. Being steadfast, watchful, and thankful in prayer, coupled with an eager willingness to share our faith with unbelievers, makes us participants with God as He takes hold of others, even as He has taken hold of us. What an awesome privilege to be about our Father's work and the advancement of His Kingdom...
