Our Destiny is Jesus

We might begin by asking how a Canaanite woman from Jericho with the seemingly infamous name of "Rahab the Harlot" ever made her way to the Hall of Faith in Hebrews Chapter 11?  Further, how did she become the ancestral granny--first to King David--but ultimately to Jesus of Nazareth, our Messiah?  Joshua 2 and 6 and various other passages of Scripture tell the story how God's grace and mercy were extended to this pagan prostitute and her entire family, a woman who spurned the false gods of her people to become a child of the God of Israel- Yahweh.  It's a story that features two Israelite spies whom she hid from capture and to whom she professed her faith.  It's also a story that features a scarlet cord, a rope of escape and a crimson reminder of God's deliverance.  The scarlet cord foreshadowed the blood that Jesus would shed on the Cross for each of us.  The account of Rahab is not a lurid story in the least but rather one of redemption, remarkable courage, genuine faith, and Divine salvation.
