Names Worth Remembering

Names Worth Remembering

Proverbs 22:1 says: "A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold." (NIV) Ecclesiastes 7:1a echoes similarly: "A good name is better than fine perfume..." (NIV) The fact that God has called you by name and made you His own and placed you in a Family of Believers should mean something deep within. The study of names is called Etymology. Each of our names have meaning. Sometimes God changes a name to give it a new meaning or a greater meaning than before. But what's most important is that your names, each derived from heaven, are attached to you. Especially amazing is the Lord knows the name of every believer and has inscribed it in the Lamb's Book of Life. Revelation 3:5 affirms: "He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God] will accordingly be dressed in white clothing; and I will never blot out his name from the Book of Life, and I will confess and openly acknowledge his name before My Father and before His angels [saying that he is one of Mine]." (AMP) And for this we offer our utmost praise to Him who bears the Name above all names!
