Love Worth Dying For

Love Worth Dying For

Perhaps you've walked into an antique store and found some old junk-of-a-thing and then read the ridiculously high price and said to yourself, "Who would pay THAT for THAT!" Treasure, as they say, is in the eye of the beholder. When we juxtapose our inherent value beside the worth our Maker places on us, there likewise seems to be an enormous chasm. Psalm 104:13 says: "For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust." (NASB) How much would you pay for dust? But in 1 Peter 1:17-19 the apostle reminds us what our heavenly Father was willing to spend to make us His own: "And if you call on Him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot." (ESV) One might argue that when it came to ransoming the likes of us, God way overpaid. But then that reveals just how much He loved us! There is no greater love than this and He has lavished it upon us! Oh Glory be to God!
