When the mother of James and John brought her sons before Jesus requesting they be granted royal positions when enthroned in His Kingdom, during their polite exchange among what our Lord said to them was this, "... the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (See Matthew 20:28) That the Messiah, the Son of God, and King of kings, said such a thing should humble all His followers to the core. After considering all the ways Jesus served while walking the earth, He then became our Ransomer as well as the ransom! 1 Peter 1:18-19 lays it out like this: "For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom He paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God." (NLT) Astounding! "He gave Himself a ransom for many..." And it then begs the question: Are you among the "many?"
