CloseThe Apostle John begins his gospel by proclaiming "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Furthermore, he notes that Jesus is "the true light which gives light to everyone." Our Lord demonstrated these truths powerfully when encountered a man who was born blind from birth. The key players in this story, the Pharisees, the blind man's parents, and the blind man himself, all had different reactions to the miracle performed by Jesus when he gave the blind man his sight. Who can deny that Jesus is more than an ordinary man, and even more than a prophet? He is none other than the Messiah, the Son of God! But for those who love their own "religion" more than the obvious truth, denial is the easier choice, even though it ultimately results in eternal separation from Jesus who is the light of the world.
