In Christ Jesus-Come What May

In Christ Jesus-Come What May

Dr. J. Vernon McGee once said in a radio broadcast this about Romans 8: "It begins with no condemnation; it ends with no separation; and in between we have God working together for our good--it doesn't get much better than that."  This may be the most succinct and profound commentary on this great chapter ever stated.  As a new year and a new season of opportunity begins, drawing from the wellspring of Romans 8 should encourage us deeply.  The promises of course are conditional.  The notion of no condemnation, no separation, God working all things for good (His and ours) and all the other promises in this chapter, are exclusively for those who are "in Christ Jesus."  For many, this past year was challenging and painful and we do not know what another year will bring.  But come what may, there is no better or secure or hopeful place to be than in Christ Jesus our Lord.  And being woven together with fellow believers, likewise in Christ, is the intended setting where God is most pleased to bring His promises to fruition.
