God's Grace: Amusing or Amazing?

God\'s Grace: Amusing or Amazing?

What does it mean to experience God's grace? A former Jewish terrorist named Saul encountered the risen Christ on the way to imprison and kill Christians. He had a head on collision with Jesus and His Grace! It was so bright, it blinded him! It was so powerful, it grounded him! It was so remarkable, it changed the whole trajectory of his life! Saul, who became Paul, writes in 1 Corinthians 15:10: "But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them--yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me." (NIV) Hear it again: "His grace was not without effect!" Had the blinded Saul merely gotten up off the ground, groped his way into Damascus, hired some seeing-eye thugs, and continued his onslaught against believers, we'd say God's grace towards Saul was totally without effect! We'd say, Jesus' grace-encounter with Saul was amusing but it certainly was not amazing! So what about God's grace towards each of us--amusing or amazing?
