From Mercy to Humility to Surrender to Worship

From Mercy to Humility to Surrender to Worship

Romans 12:1-3 says: "Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. For through the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has allotted to each a measure of faith." (NASB) When we consider we were born sinners, enemies of God, bound for hell, and incapable of saving ourselves... And then God, instead of destroying us, sends His Son to die in our place in order to make us His own, the result should reduce us to abject humility and full surrender. The love that pours in, therefore should pour out. Rebellion should give way to obedience. Judgment give way to mercy. Bitterness give way to forgiveness. Stinginess give way to generosity. The tears of sorrow that flow down should be co-mingled with tears of epic joy! The name for surrender like this? Worship!
