Entering the Changing Room

There's a saying for all believers that goes roughly like this: "We're not who we once were, not who we want to be, and we're not yet what we're going to be." This redemptive process (a.k.a. sanctification) is our present reality. As believers we enter into a covenant relationship with Christ just as we are, with the tattered and soiled clothes on our backs. And though Jesus loves us just the way He found us, He doesn't leave us that way. Once He secures our adoption with His blood, changes come--we put off things and put on far better things. Colossians 3:12-15 happens in the changing room: "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful." We've been given a new royal wardrobe. From now until glory it's time to get changed. For those in Christ, this is the fashionable thing to do.
