Divine Humility

Christmas Eve Service Martin Luther said: "The mystery of the humanity of Christ, that He sunk Himself into our flesh, is beyond all human understanding." Amen to that! Facing doom and desperate for rescue, God sent the only One who could save us, His Son. Planned before all time and driven by love, God the Son humbly set aside His place of glorious splendor and became a man. And His name is Jesus! He came in the flesh and pitched His tent among us. He was born to a young virgin and His first bed was a feeding trough. He was given for us to die on a bloody cross to cleanse us from all sin. His body was given to suffer for our sins that we might be imputed with His righteous record. His lifeless body was laid in a tomb but on the third day He vacated it. He ascended to heaven and yet again is enthroned at the right hand of God the Father from whence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. John 1:14 is a fitting summary: "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth." Gloria in excelsis Deo!
