Confessing Our Sin Keeps Us Humble

Confessing Our Sin Keeps Us Humble

The Apostle John was "the disciple whom Jesus loved," as he describes himself. In his first epistle, John talks of the divinity and humanity of Jesus, and he states that a primary message shared by Jesus was that "God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all." If we are to walk in this light, we must confess that we are sinners in order to receive His forgiveness. David, centuries earlier, experienced God's forgiveness after his grievous sin involving Bathsheba. His prayer of confession, preserved in Psalm 51, is a model for us as we seek to walk in the light by confessing our sins.
