Behold The Lamb of God

Behold The Lamb of God

Isaiah 53:4-5 says: "Surely He took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered Him punished by God, stricken by Him, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed." (ESV) Known as the "Prince of Prophets" by God's people, these words were penned about the future Messiah seven centuries before He came. Sadly, when Jesus did arrive, God's people rejected the very One who came to save them. John the Baptist recognized The Christ from the beginning. John 1:29 records his words: "Behold the Lamb of God who comes to take away the sins of the world." (ESV) Jesus took on our sins and God unleashed His wrath upon His only Son who died in our place. His atoning sacrifice brings us life, even life forevermore. What should our response be to this undeserved salvation? 'Behold the Lamb of God who takes away our sin!' Glory be to His name!
