Antichrists vs Jesus The Christ

1 John 2:21-23 says, "I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. No one who denies the Son has the Father. Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also." (ESV) In a broad sense, an antichrist is anyone who denies or rejects Jesus as the Christ. More narrowly, an antichrist is anyone who becomes a human agent of Satan and his minions in defiant opposition to our Lord. John indicates they actually had them in the church! But let's consider Who they are opposing: As the Sacrificial Lamb, Christ absorbed the wrath of God--not for His own sins--but ours. As Redeemer, He paid the ransom for our redemption, freeing us from slavery to sin and the penalty of eternal death. As Reconciler, He turned us from being enemies into friends and that forevermore. Because we were born spiritual orphans in this dark world, He sought us out to adopt us as His very own. How can anyone possibly reject and oppose Someone who has accomplished all that?! But unfortunately there are many who do...
