Lord, To Whom Shall We Go?

Lord, To Whom Shall We Go?

Jesus knew how to draw a crowd and also how to drive one away. He could bring diverse multitudes together yet could speak in such away as to divide families. Jesus spoke the truth with authority, drew the masses, set countless free, and chased others away holding their ears. At one point when some "followers" found His teaching hard, a number of them quit and walked away. The Twelve, however, remained and Jesus said to them: “Do you want to go away as well?” Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that You are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:67-69 ESV) Not everyone who hears Jesus' words likes them, or believes them. Not everyone who starts following Jesus is truly a follower. Not everyone who professes or confesses does so from the heart. Not everyone who prays a prayer utters it with sincerity. Starting, continuing, and finishing are always on His terms. By the grace of our Lord may we never find anywhere else to go and no better place to be than with Him. May the grace that enabled us to begin the race, sustain and preserve us until we cross the finish line...
