The normal Christian life includes many trials and afflictions and these come despite God having made peace with us and we with Him. God’s peace does not leave us bereft of suffering and woe; His peace is ours despite suffering and woe.

You had no means to negotiate peace with God. But God, from the beginning, had a plan for peace. His would be through His only Son, The Prince of Peace. God would present His only Son as a sacrifice to make peace between Him and you! What are the terms He offers? Unconditional surrender. There is no greater love than this!

Jeremiah was known as the weeping prophet. He cried out to God on behalf of His people and pled tearfully for them to repent and turn to God. Jeremiah 29:7 is a powerful summation of God’s instructions to Jeremiah: “But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”
