Lamentations 3:22-23 is not only a good word to start a new year or decade, it’s a good word to start each new day: “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.” (ESV) Written by Jeremiah as his nation was exiled and his beloved Jerusalem and the Temple lay in ruins, these words proclaimed hope at the bleakest of times. The Apostle Paul faced many bleak times as well. False teachers subversively sought to undue his faithful preaching of the gospel and ministry to the body of Christ. Enduring every kind of affliction and false accusation, Paul was undeterred in his mission. His Christlike tenacity, combined with God’s steadfast love and faithfulness, have given us words to stand upon and a lifestyle to emulate, no matter how difficult the times or seasons. Jesus Christ has made us alive, given us reason to live, and unending reasons to live out our lives for Him. Hand-in-hand and with mercies new, let’s remain strong and press on for the honor and glory of His name…
