Summary

Luke 24:1-6a says: “But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen.” (ESV) The question is, do you believe? Or do you view this as something akin to an April Fool’s joke? Some epic grand hoax? You can believe the earth is flat. You can believe Elvis is alive. You can believe in reptilian humanoids. And you can believe Jesus did NOT rise from the dead. But your believing is in vain if what you’re believing isn’t true. Paul affirms in 1 Corinthians 15:17-19: “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.” (NIV) Pity, therefore, is exclusively reserved for those who refuse to believe. Let that not be you!
