Summary

Romans 10:13-15 says: “For ‘everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in Him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!’” (ESV) So what about this notion of being sent? It seems that taking full ownership of the Great Commission means we’re to have a constant attitudinal sense of living every day with the mindset: “I’ve been sent!” But having our Gospel shoes laced up with readiness may not necessarily mean carrying around a soap box. 1 Peter 3:15 affirms: But in your hearts set Christ apart [as holy—acknowledging Him, giving Him first place in your lives] as Lord. Always be ready to give a [logical] defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope and confident assurance [elicited by faith] that is within you, yet [do it] with gentleness and respect.” (AMP) Eternal destinies, after all, are at stake. The Commission Jesus gave was not a mere suggestion. Good News as good as this should not be kept a secret. Beautiful feet should indeed take this News everywhere they go…
