Regular Meetings/What to Expect

The primary regular meeting of Covenant Church is held on Sunday mornings, 10:00 AM, at 11544 Summerland Beach Road in Millersport, Ohio. When you walk in the door expect to be warmly greeted by whomever is nearby.  Feel free to sit wherever you like.

100_2067 (Small)Dress is casual, jeans and shorts are typical, but skirts and ties have also been worn by a few on rare occasions. Children are very welcome.  Nursery facilities are available for babies and very young children. We use no printed bulletins, but we usually follow a loose order of worship that goes like this:

The pastor gives a greeting, makes announcements, and invites those in attendance to offer any praise reports they may have, giving God glory for His goodness in answering prayer and granting blessings.  Then the pastor takes prayer requests, and the congregation joins together in lifting expressed needs to God.  It is not unusual for us to gather around and pray for someone in attendance who has requested prayer for healing or some other special need.

IMG_2708We then have a time of worship typically led by a guitarist and, usually, another vocalist.  The words to the worship choruses or hymns are projected on a screen making the use of hymnals or song sheets unnecessary.  It is not unusual for children or adults to accompany the singing with tambourines or other rhythm instruments.  Nor is it unusual for people to raise their hands as they worship, expressing adoration to our Father God.  Frequently public prayers of praise are also offered during worship.  Following worship, children ages pre-school through (approximately) 3rd grade are dismissed to a children’s activity held in another part of the facility.

Then the pastor delivers the sermon which lasts anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.  The topics are always pertinent, guided by scripture, and laced with appropriate stories or humor.  We encourage attendees to bring their bibles and follow along with the scriptures highlighted in the sermon.  You can listen to and/or download archived sermons by clicking on the Sermon link at the top of this web site.  Once a month, usually on the first Sunday of the month, we celebrate the rite of communion together.100_2042

After the sermon and the closing prayer we usually enjoy talking to each other. It’s not unusual for people to fellowship together for 20 or 30 minutes after the formal church service.

You will possibly notice that we do not mention the taking of a collection as part of the church service.  Instead, attendees are invited to make an offering by placing it in a marked offering box at the back of the room.

A prayer meeting is held every Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM at our church facility on Summerland Beach Road.  We invite you to come to offer and receive prayer for any and all needs.  No one is required to pray out loud!  We spend some time sharing prayer needs, then we lift those needs to the Lord in prayer.  The meeting usually lasts about an hour.
